Fibre Arts Friday

Happy Fibre Arts Friday!

I missed the Fibre Arts Friday post for the last two weeks, if truth be told I didn’t know what to write because I didn’t want to bore you with my problems but I was consumed by them during those days so I decided just be quiet.

Anyway for those of you who wondering what happened with my partner’s visa we finally have some good(ish) news: Sebastian was granted a bridging visa while waiting for a decision - it didn’t come with work rights at the beginning and our lawyer had to lodge another application to have that condition waved, thankfully it was granted so he can continue to work, phew! So now we wait.

During this time I finished the 24 Days of Sashiko Challenge and here are the photos showing all the stitches:

I stitched on both sides of a big canvas tote and I am really happy with how they came out. But I realised that I will need to make an insert or lining for the tote so that the threads on the inside wouldn’t catch, that’s going to be a challenge of its own with my limited sewing skills 😆

I finished a crochet/knit hat with my handspun. I spun two skeins from the Come Rain or Shine blend, one is spun woollen and other is spun thick and thin and plied with a silk thread. I used a crochet band for brim then picked up stitches all around to knit in the round, then decreased sharply for the crown. It is a comfy slouchy hat with interesting textures 😍

Dominique Trad and I released the Moondancer Shawl Pattern and the Pattern + Yarn Kit this week. The pattern uses 50g each of the striping colours and 100g of the main colour for the lace, all in fingering weight.

The pattern is available on Ravelry and Payhip, you can find the links here, the pattern is 20% off on Ravelry at the moment until 30 November. Or if you prefer one of my curated kits it will come with a pattern code to download from Ravelry. At the time of writing the Summer Moon just sold out but the other combs are still available.

Oh, remember I sent my Shawlography to the naughty corner a few weeks ago? I finally mustered enough courage to get it out and ripped back to the beginning of section 10, more than 400 stitches, and started again…. having re-knit to the end of section 10 I discovered that I’d still managed to miss an increase and I was two stitches out, oh well I couldn’t be bothered to go back again so I just fudged it and put in the missing stitches in the next row and completed Clue 3:

Shawlography end of Clue 3

Well that’s my fibre shenanigans for this week, what have you been up to?
