Autumn Leaves Hat Kit - natural dye collection
This hat is designed by Sparrow (Rachael) - the other half of Cat & Sparrow Fibres. It is a stranded two colours pattern which starts at the base and reduced at the crown to shape the top of the hat. The pattern is charted but without line by line instruction for the pattern part, instructions are given for the construction of the hat.
I dyed up some special colour combos for the kit. This listing is for the natural-dye collection, materials used for the dye include: Eastern Brazilwood, Himalayan Rhubarb, Indigo, Lac, Logwood and Onion skins. Alum was used as mordant.
Kit content:
2 x 50g DK yarn 115m in contrasting colours
1 set of Cat & Sparrow stitch markers
1 x Autumn Leaves Hat pattern (digital - a copy will be emailed to you)
The yarn used in this kit is from Cloverleaf Sheep Stud in Victoria. It is a blend of 80% Corriedale and 20% Kid Mohair (from Goldfield Mohair Farm, Victoria). Cloverleaf practises ethical farming, you can find out more about their farm on their website.
This is a “paddock to ply” product that is grown, processed and naturally dyed in Australia.
*All care have been taken during the dyeing process, however some residual dye may still remain but should wash out after one or two washes. Handwash only.
